Congratulations to George Gardner and Katy Bauer for their excellent showing at the SCJFL Speech & Debate Tournament at Jefferson Middle School tonight. George placed 3rd in Storytelling in a large field and Katy captured 2nd place in Dramatic Interpretation.
The Elementary Speech & Debate did an outstanding job at the 3rd Annual La Salle Elementary Speech & Debate Tournament. After weeks of hard work − even coming in at lunch and recess to practice — the kids brought home awards in every category. Congratulations to everyone of our 30 member team!

St. Rita Speech and Debate Team finished another great year with an outstanding showing at the National Junior Forensics Tournament in Dallas. Katy Bauer reached quarter-finals in Prose and the awards stage as a semi-finalist in Dramatic Interpretation. And Esteban Sanchez reached quarters in Extemporaneous Speaking.
We are looking forward to another great year for both our Elementary (grades 4-5) and Varsity (grades 6-8) Teams. Tournaments for both teams are throughout the year and everyone is encouraged to participate in as many tournaments as their schedules will allow. Practice times will be flexible to meet the needs of student’s busy schedules. As a general rule, an hour a week with the coach and an hour at home is enough time to prepare for a tournament. Those aiming for the Nationals of course will want to put in more time.
To get started please fill out the form below to register. We will begin meeting prior to the start of school starting on Wednesday, August 19th from 12-2pm and Thursday, August 20th from 12-2pm in O’Malley Hall. Further practices will be scheduled at those meetings.
