Dear St. Francis Family,
I am deeply saddened to inform you that Chris Gala passed early this morning. His mother Peggy called me at about 3:54 am to inform me of the sad news. Chris’ father Fran was also there and I was able to speak with him.
His brothers here at St. Francis and our entire St. Francis community are broken-hearted knowing that one of our Golden Knights is gone from our midst. I am personally affected by Chris’ death and I will greatly miss him. Chris was a gentle, affable and joyful young man whose smile and good humor contributed to our Franciscan joy.
Our hearts go out to Chris’ parents Peggy and Fran and his brother Colin. Peggy and Fran are amazing parents who were with Chris in ICU for two months until the end of his life. Their faith and love for their older son are great examples to all of us. We are praying for them and for Colin.
As it is our tradition, please pray for the repose of Chris’ soul and keep Peggy, Fran and Colin in your prayers. I am celebrating Mass for Chris this morning and invite you to a live streamed Mass this coming Monday from our chapel at 10:00 am.
Chris’ illness and suffering united us with this brave young man, his parents and brother. Chris’ parting gifts to us for more than two months were his courage and the stronger bonding we have felt as a family. Now at his passing we comfort one another knowing that the Lord has welcomed Chris’ soul at his eternal home and rewarded him for his goodness and joyful heart. We will be together with him again at a place where there is no sadness but the Divine love that will embrace us all forever. Love is stronger than death!
May Chris’ soul Rest In Peace!
