Altar Servers

Altar Serving is a call to prayer and mission. It is a wonderful way to actively be involved in the mass.

The Altar Service Ministry is open to individuals ranging in age from 5th grade to adult. Recruitment begins with applications that can be obtained from the church office, or by contacting Kathy Ganino, Altar Server Coordinator.

There are two trainings conducted by the parish, per person. After their training they will be scheduled on a two-month scheduling system.

Parents/adults have the option to select special days and also to alert us of unavailable days to serve. If an altar server needs a substitute altar server for a mass, the request can be sent via email to the scheduling system which will alert all altar servers.

Altar servers may be scheduled to participate in mass on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Fridays at 8:00 a.m. On weekends, all servers can serve at the Saturday masses (8:00 a.m. & 5:30 p.m.) and Sunday masses (7:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., & 12:00 p.m.) All altar servers are contacted to volunteer for funerals, weddings, or special masses (Christmas, Holy Week, Communion, Confirmation, & Graduation.)

Every May, selected 8th grade servers are honored at a Serra Club International Luncheon. Seventh grade servers are treated to a day at Knotts Berry Farm.

Altar servers can also receive Christian Service Hours for additional assistance in Church programs/events.
