Sacramental Preparation

First Holy Communion is a ceremony performed in church by Catholics when a child reaches the age of around 7-8 years and celebrates the first time that they accept the bread and wine (also known as the Eucharist). The bread and wine becomes the body and blood of Christ.

In 2nd grade, St. Rita students prepare for Reconciliation (confession) and First Holy Communion.

St. Rita School follows the resource guide “Christ Our Life” -Loyola Press.

Through this teaching, students are able to understand the Eucharist as a means to deepen our relationship with Christ.

First Communion occurs the first Saturday in May.
